Cuttlas

I read a column about this remembering animation in one of our city dailies and translated some parts as below.

This animation which is made based on comic strips with the same name is an art phenomena; it uses primitive lined characters of our childhood and by all means is a magic of line.

Story of each episode is Cuttlas fighting with bad men, especially his main foe, Bad Jack. Jack is known by his cylinder hat and pistol. Cuttlas was slim with a cowboy hat. Their fight concluded with a thousand dead lined men spreading their blood all over the frame.

This 1992 animation is made by a Spanish animator named Calpurnio (b. 1959, Spain). There is a saying: "there is always a big name behind a simple but effective art work.

Hello, it was a month or so that I didn't read your blog. This comic strips came with a national newspaper, and later were bought by a free newspaper. I used to read them every day. Some chapters are more elaborated than others, and I used to keep the stories which I found the best.

They once made a tribute to Kraftwerk, a whole week of cutlass and Kraftwerk, with drawings of their records, music,... some other musicians also appear in the comic strips, like the chemical brothers (once they made a disco party), and there're also other characters like extraterrestrials.

This strip is a dielectic battle between Cutlass and the bad Jake, with phrases like: "Death rides alone", "Revenge Rides over time",... until Jake makes a mistake (a logic mistake), and turns back and leaves.
